Hospital Bakes for Habitat for Humanity January 4, 2006
(Low Moor, VA) The Nursing Resource Council at Alleghany Regional Hospital recently held a bake sale for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity. The event raised over $1,100.00. We were overwhelmed with the support that everyone gave, from baking items, donating things for the raffle, the donation of items to sell, and then purchasing the cakes, fudge, breads, cookies, and raffle tickets, stated Mary Asma, R.N., coordinator for the event. According to John Barnes, president of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Alleghany Highlands, the donation will buy all the insulation for a house, the outer wrap and the felt covering for the roof OR it would cover the cement blocks and mortar for the foundation for a new house.
